Code of Conduct
Mountain View Volleyball Club Policy
1. No Athlete-to-Athlete Coaching
Athletes are expected to focus on their own performance and rely on the coaching staff for instruction and corrections. No athlete should attempt to coach or correct another athlete's performance. This helps maintain a positive and focused learning environment where everyone can benefit from the guidance of qualified coaches.
2. No Comment Blaming Teammates for Missed Balls
It's important to foster a supportive team culture. Blaming teammates for missed balls or mistakes is not allowed. Instead, athletes should take responsibility and understand that volleyball is a team sport where success and failure are collective.
3. Report Injuries or Health Concerns Immediately
Athletes must report any injuries or health concerns to the coach immediately. This ensures that appropriate care is given and helps prevent further injury. Failing to report injuries may result in dismissal from the club.
4. Maintain Academic Responsibility
Academics are a priority. Athletes must maintain a balance between their academic and athletic commitments. If an athlete does not attend school, they are not allowed to attend practice. Missing more than four practices in a month due to unexcused absences will result in ineligibility to compete in upcoming games and tournaments. These athletes will still be required to pay the fees for these missed events and no refunds will be issued. We encourage multi-sport and therefore if practice is missed due to commitment to another sporting event, we will make an exception. Illness is also acceptable but more than 4 practices per month missed due to illness will require a doctor's note.
5. Respect Coaches' Decisions; No Interference or Approaching Coaches Directly
Parents and athletes must respect the decisions made by the coaching staff. Parents should not interfere during games and practices or approach coaches directly with concerns. Instead, concerns should be communicated through designated channels following the 24-hour rule. Our Director is present at almost all of our practices so if there is a concern that needs to be discussed after 24 hours, we would be more than happy to hear you out. Our coaching staff are all trained and/or certified and their methods are not up for discussion. All practices will look different. If a parent would like something done a different way, it's highly encouraged that work towards their coaching certification and find a club to coach with.
6. Parents Must Stay in Designated Waiting Areas
For the benefit of the athletes and to maintain a focused environment, parents must stay in designated waiting areas. This policy helps create a productive practice atmosphere where athletes can concentrate fully on their training. The designated waiting areas differ depending on the location of practice. If these designated waiting areas are within view of the athletes and coaches, parents will NOT interact with either the athlete or the coach. This includes filling water bottles. All of our athletes are more than capable of filling up their own water bottles and it's very important that the athletes stay with their team and coaches during the entire practice, no breaking off to chat with parents/siblings/friends. Parents are to be seated and quiet at all times. In the event that the facility does not have a open designated seating area, the waiting area will have to suffice. Our club always follows the rule of two so rest assured, your athlete will never be alone with any of our coaches. Further to this point, I would like parents to re-read points 5, 7, 8, and 9 again prior to attending practices and games. If this becomes an issue for any athlete/parent combination, that parent will be asked to leave and will no longer be allowed to be within the practice area. This is not up for discussion.
7. Encourage Your Child to Address Issues Directly with Coaches
Athletes should be encouraged to communicate directly with their coaches about any issues or concerns. This promotes independence and helps athletes develop problem-solving skills. Parents should support their children in addressing issues on their own, unless a concern involves physical or mental abuse.
8. No Coaching from Parents During Games and Practices
Parents should refrain from coaching their child or other players during games and practices unless they are officially part of the coaching staff. This allows coaches to do their jobs effectively and ensures a consistent coaching approach for all athletes.
9. Zero Tolerance for Code of Conduct Violations
There is a zero tolerance policy for violations of the Parent and Athlete Code of Conducts. Any violation WILL result in disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion from the club. Maintaining a positive and respectful environment is paramount to the success of the club and its athletes.
10. Equal Playing Time Policy
While the club aims to provide fair playing time for all athletes, there may be instances where factors such as skill level, attendance, and work ethic impact playing time during competitions. Playing time is determined by the coaching staff and is not guaranteed for every athlete.
11. Communication Channels
All communications should be directed through official club channels, such as email or designated communication apps. Group chats are not the place for raising concerns or creating drama. The 24-hour rule applies to all concerns to ensure thoughtful and respectful communication.
12. Equipment and Uniforms
Athletes are responsible for maintaining their equipment and uniforms. Any damage or loss should be reported immediately. Proper care ensures that all athletes are well-prepared for practices and competitions.
13. Volunteer and Fundraising Participation
Parents and athletes are encouraged to participate in volunteer activities and fundraising events organized by the club. These efforts help support club operations and foster a sense of community among members.
14. Club Fees and Refunds
A $1,000.00 deposit is due at signing and is NON-REFUNDABLE. Once the athlete is registered in Sportlomo as associated with the club all fees are due as per payment arrangements and are NON-REFUNDABLE. All fees are calculated based on the team, not the individual and are non-negotiable. All fees are DUE before Premier 2, when the rosters are locked. If fees are not paid, your athlete will not be eligible to compete in Premier 2, Provincials, and Nationals. In the event your athlete is asked to leave the club, depending on the circumstances, we may offer to release your athlete so they can seek another club to sign with but ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE!

15. Acknowledgment
By registering with the Mountain View Volleyball Club, both athletes and parents agree to abide by all policies and procedures outlined in this document. Failure to comply WILL result in disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from the club.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to maintaining a positive and successful environment within the Mountain View Volleyball Ltd.
